Pay Options for In-Home Care
A number of resources exist that can help pay for in-home care.
The following is a list of some of those options that are available in
Arkansas.
1)
Private Pay: “Out of Pocket” pay is the most widely
used option for paying the cost of in-home care.
2) Medicaid: Pays
for in-home care services for those who qualify.
a.
ElderChoices is a program for individuals aged 65
and over that meet certain physical and low-income financial criteria.
b.
Independent Choices is a program for individuals
18 and over that need personal care in the home.
c.
Alternatives assists individuals
between the ages of 21-64 who need care in the home to remain independent.
3)
Veterans Administration: A range of in-home care services
is available for qualified Veterans needing in-home care. You can visit www.VA.gov
for more information.
4) Long term care insurance: These insurance policies can
provide a broad range of coverage ranging from skilled care to light household
assistance.
5) Automobile insurance:
If in-home care is required after an automobile accident some insurance
companies provide funding that can be used to cover the cost.
6) Workers compensation insurance: When injured on the job
this type insurance may help pay for some or all of the costs associated with
care in the home.
7) Alzheimer's Scholarships: For individuals that have been
diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or a dementia, funding for in-home care may be
available.
8) Reverse Mortgage: Clients can use the equity in their homes
or cash value insurance policies to pay for in-home care.
9) Cancer Patients: Multiple companies provide funding for
cancer patients. Avon, Mary Kay,
Novartis, Bristol Myers and more.
10) Volunteer Programs:
There are volunteer programs available
that provide in-home care services at no charge.
